We have several CIM benchmark oriented kits to lend you for use in your classroom on a variety of waste reduction and resource efficiency topics. The following kits are available:
- Papermaking
A hands-on opportunity to make new paper from classroom scraps. Appropriate for all grade levels. - Waste Evaluation
Lead your students in a sort to find out what's in your school's trash; kids are always wowed; then come up with a plan on what can be done to reduce waste. Appropriate for 4th-12th grade. - Lifecycle Analysis
Examine the lifecycle of a pop can, newspaper, computer, etc. and their environmental impacts. Appropriate for 7th-12th grades. - Household Hazardous Waste
Have your students test acids and bases to develop an understanding of the potential toxicity of household products and learn about greener alternatives. Appropriate for 6th-9th grades. - Vermicomposting
Encourage your students to take a renewed interest in your school's worm bin by borrowing our Worm Squirm board game. Filled with facts about waste reduction and worm composting, this game is designed for 4th-8th grade and may be adapted for other grade levels. Also available are salinity, pH, and moisture meters which students can use to test your worm bin and ensure that the bin environment is optimal for red worms.
