Program/Service Notes:
Victim advocates work one-on-one with victims of crime or family members of victims. An advocate assists the victim at each step of the criminal justice process; provides crisis intervention, emotional support, information, resource referrals, and accompaniment to court appearances. Free cell phones available for emergency/911 accessibility. Advocates are available 24 hours to respond to a hospital, police station or crime scene; dispatched by 911, a police agency, or the Victim Assistance office.
Victim Assistance provides:
* 24-hr Crisis Intervention for victims( as well as their families) of all crimes
* Personal support through hospital examination and treatment process
* Assistance in applying for Crime Victims Compensation
* Accompaniment to trials, court hearings, meetings with Deputy District Attorneys, etc.
* Information on case status and programs
* Restitution recovery
* Property return assistance
