engAGE in Community is a community-based action initiative whose mission is to establish Clackamas County as an age-friendly place that supports people's ability to age actively and successfully in their home or community of choice. In partnership with OSU Extension Service and AARP Oregon, engAGE in Community seeks to affect community change by exploring aging issues, and by increasing and improving resources that will establish Clackamas County as an age-friendly place, a place for all ages.

We are interested in your opinion…

Please take our web survey so we can learn about age-friendly features in your community. The questionnaire, created by OSU Extension Service, takes only a few minutes - just 10 multiple choice questions! Personal information will not be asked. Information will be used to develop our Clackamas County engAGE in Community plan, which will be posted on this site late 2011. All Clackamas County residents are welcome to participate. Issues and Anticipated Outcomes

Aging issues we wish to further understand and explore include:

• How the physical environment, specifically transportation, housing, and outdoor spaces and buildings, is supportive of or a barrier to aging in place
• Whether the social, cultural, and civic environments are engaging, respectful, and inclusive of older persons
• How does the service environment provide community support and health services, and how is information communicated

We hope that the information gathered through this project will result in an increase and improvement of the following resources for our aging population:

• Transportation, housing, and accessible outdoor spaces and buildings
• Opportunities for social, cultural, and civic engagement
• Services that support greater independence with more choices and fewer barriers to active, successful aging

As one can imagine, this is an enormous task − and we cannot do it alone. Clackamas County Social Services is recruiting volunteers to  participate in community asset mapping efforts in the NCPDR. Please visit volunteer and events tab.

Participee en la comunidad es una iniciativa de acción basado en la comunidad cuya misión es establecer el Condado de Clackamas como un, que apoya la capacidad de las personas para envejecer activamente y con éxito en su hogar o en la comunidad de su gusto.
