Sheriff Craig Roberts

Sheriff Craig Roberts is a life long resident of Clackamas County. He is a graduate of Molalla High School and Clackamas Community College. Sheriff Roberts is married with three children.

Sheriff Roberts was sworn in as the Sheriff of Clackamas County on January 4th, 2004. He has over 22 years of law enforcement experience with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, the last 15 as a detective.

As a patrol deputy he served as a field training officer, SWAT member, background investigator, and undercover narcotics investigator. As a detective, Sheriff Roberts investigated numerous child homicide, physical and/or sexual abuse, and domestic violence cases. Sheriff Roberts organized and implemented the Child Abuse Team in 1998, including a resource notebook and written department procedures for responding to physical and sexual abuse, neglect, and homicide cases of children.

Before being elected Sheriff, he served as the Program Director of Clackamas County's Domestic Violence Enhanced Response Team. Sheriff Roberts is also a member of the Clackamas County Domestic Violence Task Force, which was awarded a Violence Against Women grant, in October of 2002, to implement a Domestic Violence Enhanced Response Team (DVERT) within Clackamas County.

Sheriff Roberts has served as the Sheriff's Office liaison at CARES Northwest, an assessment center in Portland, Oregon, that sees over 1,400 children annually. Sheriff Roberts has also served as coordinator of the Child Abuse Summit and Family Violence Conference, a nationally recognized multidisciplinary conference for professionals working in the areas of child abuse, neglect, and domestic violence.

Sheriff Roberts served as the Co-Chair on the Clackamas County Hispanic Interagency Networking Team (HINT).

Throughout his law enforcement career, Sheriff Roberts provided training to police officers, medical providers, school staff, day care providers and other community groups concerning the issues of child maltreatment and family violence.

Chief Deputy Sheriff Charlie Bowen Undersheriff Charley Bowen

Charley Bowen was appointed the Undersheriff on January 1, 2005 by Sheriff Craig Roberts. Undersheriff Bowen is a 24 year veteran of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and has held the ranks of Deputy, Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. He has worked as a homicide investigator, crime analyst, hostage negotiator, narcotics investigator and supervisor, and patrol watch commander.

Captain Machado Captain John Naab
Patrol Division

John Naab was promoted to Captain on April 3, 2006. Captain Naab was hired by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 3, 1983. He was promoted to Sergeant on Dec. 15, 1992, and promoted to Lieutenant on Nov. 11, 1999. Captain Naab has worked for the Sheriff’s Office as a Training Officer, Search & Rescue Coordinator, Detective Sergeant, Hostage Negotiator, SWAT Commander, and Aero-Unit Commander; he graduated from the FBI National Academy in March 2003.
