At the direction of the Board of County Commissioners, and in conjunction with the guidelines set by the State Commission on Children and Families, the main purpose of the local Commission on Children and Families is to promote wellness for the children and families in the county, to mobilize communities and to develop policy and oversee the implementation of a local coordinated comprehensive plan.

In addition, the mission of the Commission is to build communities that care about individuals, children and families.  We do this by fostering collaboration and community mobilization, utilizing broad based community participation, measuring our results and holding ourselves accountable along with distributing and supervising local, state and federal funds dedicated to services to children and families.
