Clackamas County Justice Court

The mission of the Justice Court is to promote justice in a fair and impartial forum; establishing public trust and confidence by providing citizens convenient access to justice and utilizing public resources efficiently and in a manner which demonstrates fiscal responsibility, accountability and sustainability.

HISTORY OF THE CLACKAMAS COUNTY JUSTICE COURT

The Clackamas County Justice of the Peace District was established by the Board of County Commissioners in February, 2009.  In May, 2009, local attorney, Karen Brisbin, was appointed by Governor Ted Kulongoski to serve as the new Justice of the Peace for Clackamas County.  Justice Brisbin took her oath of office and began official duties, June 1, 2009.  In February, 2010 the Justice Court began operations to process and adjudicate traffic and other violations at its present temporary location on SE McLoughlin Blvd. in Oak Grove.  In November, 2010, voters elected Justice Brisbin for a six year term.

The Justice Court receives citations from Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, the Oregon State Police, Fish and Wildlife, Federal Weigh Master, Transit Line Police, Tri Met Max Line, and local police agencies citing outside incorporated cities within Clackamas County.
