Congressman Kurt Schrader spoke with commissioners on Jan. 26 about a variety of federal initiatives covering healthcare, transportation, forestry and the Willamette Falls Locks. He is currently serving his second term in the United States House of Representatives. He represents Oregon's 5th Congressional District which includes all of Marion, Polk, Lincoln and Tillamook Counties as well as the bulk of Clackamas and small portions of Multnomah and Benton Counties. |

On September 28 Clackamas County Commissioners attended the 3rd annual Business in the County event at Oregon City’s Abernethy Center, sponsored by the North Clackamas Chamber of Commerce. Chamber CEO Susan Lehr led panel discussions with representatives from different successful businesses in the county. Commissioners were then given an opportunity to talk about ways the county can support new and existing businesses as well as answer other questions. |

On July 18th, students from Estacada High School and West Linn High School visited the Board of County Commissioners to show the board a presentation on how they choose to stay above the influence of drugs and alcohol. Their work is part of the Above the Influence program, a national drug and alcohol prevention effort that works to empower students to choose their own path to staying drug and alcohol free. Oregon Partnership, a non-profit organization that specializes in helping end drug abuse among youth in our State helped the students plan and develop their own video presentations. A grant from Clackamas County’s Division of Children, Youth, and Families helped make these programs possible. |

Board of County Commissioners awards $200,000 in special grants to local non-profit organizations For the second consecutive year, Clackamas County Commissioners have announced plans to distribute $200,000 in small grants to organizations providing services to the needy in Clackamas County. The money was set aside by the Budget Committee as part of a plan to funnel $1 million in fiscal year budget savings to support programs for vulnerable populations.
