About Ann
A fourth-generation Oregonian, Ann grew up in Southern Oregon, where her family ran a construction business. Her mom worked as a teacher and a school principal. Life wasn’t always easy. The family business struggled during the recession of the 1980s. At times they thought the business might go under. That experience is one reason Ann is so dedicated to getting Clackamas County’s economy back on its feet and getting families back to work.
Ann’s parents also taught her the importance of giving back to the community. That is why Ann has used her skills as an advocate, attorney, and an active parent to make a difference in the lives of people, whether by helping victims of domestic violence, developing affordable housing, or providing legal assistance to non-profit organizations.
After graduating from Yale University and New York University School of Law, Ann focused on business, project finance, and community development law. She provided legal advice and underwriting help to support development of thousands of apartments to serve needy families. She led the Meyer Memorial Trust Affordable Housing Initiative, which was designed to preserve and create affordable apartments, to help 10,000 low income families and seniors. She protected clean water and fragile habitats as a litigator for the Sierra Club Defense Fund. She also clerked for U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Carlos Lucero.
Now Ann is focused on the important work of serving as a County Commissioner.
As County Commissioner Ann has set clear priorities:
- Strengthen the economy and create new jobs by making Clackamas County a strong partner to local businesses.
- Focus on helping keep vulnerable children, families, and seniors safe and healthy.
