Ann’s Priorities for Clackamas County

Ann has three top priorities as Clackamas County Commissioner.

Getting Clackamas County Residents Back to Work

  • Help secure government and private funds for projects that will create jobs for urban and rural residents.
  • Remove obstacles so local businesses can grow, and recruit new employers.

Keeping Vulnerable Families and Seniors Safe and Healthy

  • Protect programs that enable children to succeed at school and in the future.
  • Provide families with access to mental health care, addiction recovery services and decent housing.
  • Redesign the county’s behavioral healthcare system to serve more needy people more effectively within our existing budget.
  • Direct county funds to improve the Milwaukie Center’s ability to provide Meals on Wheels to local seniors.
  • Promote public transportation options that will benefit seniors and others.

Making Careful, Efficient Use of Tax Dollars and Other Public Resources

  • Expand financial reporting from nonprofit programs that receive county funds.
  • Be willing to say “no” to programs that are not the highest and best use of scarce resources.
  • Conserve our natural resources by improving wastewater treatment, reducing energy consumption in public buildings, and supporting community development projects that encourage people to walk, bike, or take public transit to their destinations.
  • Increase board involvement in the county budgeting and auditing process, and increase opportunity for community feedback into county decision making.
