During introductions, attendees spoke briefly about general items from their jurisdictions.

Minutes of the March 1, 2007 meeting were adopted unanimously.

Bob Wise – Cogan Owens Cogan spoke about the Complete Community Congress being held on May 12th.  He provided a handout and discussed the focus on sustainability, on the whole county and relationships between the county, cities, communities and districts.  He encouraged everyone to attend the event to include planners, council members, and business and community leaders.  He provided the group with his email address should they need further information bwise@coganowns.com          

Other discussion of Complete Community Congress:

  • This is a kick start to the Visioning Process and is relevant to everyone – input is needed now
  • The congress is about building your community together
  • Invitation is extended to cities and special districts
  • Includes Sustainability and Livability

Brian Newman and Michael Jordan of Metro provided an Update on Metro’s New Look.  Discussion items included:

  • Refined approach to achieving the goals of the 2040 growth concept
  • Focus on six major points
    1. Invest in centers and corridors
    2. Coordinate growth with neighboring communities
    3. Base UGB expansion decisions on urban performance
    4. Designate and plan urban reserves
    5. Designate areas that shall not be urbanized
    6. Prioritize and invest in transportation improvement s
  • Important legislation – House Bill 2051 and Senate Bill 1011
  • Discussed how Measure 37 is impacting growth
  • All parts are linked and the process is collaborative
  • 2040 is about choice
